Personality:
Nile is a good-hearted, caring and compassionate individual who also knows how to be fierce and determined when the time is right. When a situation requires her utmost attention she gives it one hundred percent. She is a tough and self-sufficient kind of person, having grown up in a household of a single mother and a brother. She has excelled in a dangerous, physically demanding, male-dominated career in the marines. That's The short of it, but let's break this down more.

We see Nile at the start of the movie, in uniform, talking kindly to local children and passing small candies to each of them, making sure none of them were left out. She is cheerful and compassionate and smiling, seeming glad to bring just a little joy to these children’s lives, even if it’s just some small candy and a smile. Almost instantly after this she gets called upon to lead her all female troop in to peacefully speak to the ladies hiding away in a home. They are looking for a military target who has killed many of their people and hers.

Nile speaks calmly to the ladies, even taking her helmet off to show she too is a woman. She had called to her troops to “Be respectful” while inside. When one of the girls says ‘Aren’t we always’ she smiles and says it’s always worth repeating. While inside with the ladies she is exactly that; respectful. She speaks clearly and slowly, letting the translator talk to them as well. Once she is given a signal that their target IS here, she makes sure the ladies are moved and away, waving her troops into action.

As Nile enters the room where the target is he raises a gun and she fires two shots into his chest. Because that is exactly how the Marines are trained to take down targets. She didn’t even have to think, just react. Unfortunately they wanted the target alive. Kicking the gun away and crouching to his side she started to get strips to help stop the bleeding, though the man is fighting it. He didn’t want her to save his life, but she insisted. Calling for one of her troops to step in and help her, she dumbly looked away for a split second, allowing the man to pull a knife and slice her throat open.

Blood gushing, a look of panic overtook Nile as she was clearly bleeding out. She was facing her mortality for the first time and fear seeped into her mind as all was going south. Her friend and trooper held her neck together but even she knew it was too deep to save her. Nile died in her arms in an Afghanistan house, her target dead as well.

In a situation like this you don’t generally get time to reflect on it, being dead and all. But Nile was miraculously alive the next day, much to her fellow troops' discomfort. Waking up to find no scar on her neck at all was weird. She could have sworn she had been cut. She said that the medics used a new skin graft to make it close up the way it did, but even to Nile that was a flimsy excuse. She could see the fear and concern in her fellow troops eyes and that bothered her. While trying to work out her frustration and fear, a Sargent came up to her and dismissed her to pack her bags. She was going to a facility for more testing. She insisted she felt alright, but it didn’t matter. By time she got to her bunk the other girls had already packed for her, all of them seeming concerned, and not in a delighted to see her, kind of way.

Feeling a bit of betrayal by the turn of events, she grabbed her ear phones and phone and went for a walk instead, putting on music and trying to calm down. This was frightening. Everything about it was scaring her and she wasn’t sure how to deal with it. What do you do when everyone thinks you are dead only to find you have not a scratch on your skin?

This is when her meeting with Andy happens, which came at a frustrating moment in time. A punch took her down and blacked her out. She later woke up in a military truck, laying in the back as this strange woman drove. Not being a damsel in distress, she worked quickly. Kicking the back of the rig open she didn’t fear what would happen to her as she dove out the back and rolled. The truck had been going at high speed but that didn’t stop her from trying to escape.

Nile is TOUGH. She’s not scared easily of pain that might come to her. Rolling out of the back of a jeep is nothing compared to whatever this woman might do to her. Not one to lay down and take it, she rolled, and as she came to a stop she stood, trying to make a run for it. Sure, she was scared, but she had to escape, and she wasn’t going to let her fear stop her.

Then Andy shot her. Right in the center of the head. She didn’t have time to process what happened, as she slowly, slowly came back to life, healing and the bullet falling from her head, she sat up, and had herself a right good old panic. It was then that she learned she could not die. That all the pain in the world could inflict her and she would recover from it. Andy explained through their time together what was going on, and for Nile it was a lot to take in.

Even while seeing to take what the woman was saying, she was plotting her escape. She’s a brilliant tactician and tends to think situations through. Like being trapped in a plane with a woman who kidnapped and shot her. She tied Andy down, took a gun and pointed it at the pilot. Though she had no intention of shooting the pilot she thought it was a good idea to go in her favor.

Unfortunately the situation did not pan out as she thought, because immortals, and Andy specifically, are unpredictable. After a fight proving how well trained she was, Andy and her sat down and actually talked a bit more. Nile still seemed to feel that this was a lot to take in but at least she’s willing to hear her out now and follow along, though still with caution.

As Andy found out in their small fight on a plane, she’s a Strong Black Woman who doesn’t back down till her arm and leg are broken, and even then she doesn’t whine or cry, she’s just pissed. She doesn’t like to lose, but it’s shown as she heals again that this curse to her is real and Andy is telling the truth. She is immortal.

Later when she’s around the rest of the group she wakes up screaming from a nightmare. It is shown all three guys go for weapons, like they are about to defend the girl and attack whatever might have made her scream. It seems more than a combat instinct and more of a found family instinct. She’s family now and someone who needs their help. She integrated into this little pack with relative ease. When explaining the dream the boys all calm down, and instead of coddling her they simply give her answers. That’s something she can appreciate. Though she is the ‘baby’ to the Guard, they don’t treat her as one. They treat her as equal by the end. Just another family member. It helps endear them to her.

She believes in right and wrong and even has a hard time taking a gun from Andy to go attack a man that certainly kidnapped Joe and Nicky. As much as she wants to help save them she’s unable to fight the feeling that it was wrong. She had seen the mass of bodies that Andy had put down in the hideout, and that didn't settle well in her chest. She was given the chance to go back home and leave. To go do what she wanted, and she took it. Only to stop and rethink something over. She realized Booker betrayed Andy and had to be the connection that got Joe and Nicky caught.

Turning back she went back to rejoin the fight, but she got there too late to help Andy. She confronted the man (Copley) responsible for the Kidnapping of the four Old Guard, even shooting herself in the foot to prove she was one of them. She forced him to tell her where they were taken, and had set her determination to do the right thing, and go get them out.

At Copley’s place she learns that the smallest action of Andy, Joe, Nicky and Booker has had a great impact on the world over the years. This does a lot to endear Andy to her, who, at this point just seemed a bit like a killing machine. She realizes that Andy and the Old Guard actually do what they do and it HELPS. It's enough of a help to shape the world. That' the WHY, the why they do this.

Again, it is shown that Nile adapts quickly to incredibly stressful situations, which could be part of her Marine training but could also just be how she thinks and acts. She's had less than a week to get to understand all of what is going on, to trained herself to take bullets instead of dodging them. To fight like she CAN die and return. Where everyone else had TIME to work with the team, Nile has had about 48 hours and already fits in seamlessly in their fighting style. Sure she might have more to pick up, but time will make her better. As of right now, she's already working with the team well. She doesn’t stand out as the “newbie” or “the baby” of the group. She is their equal.

While gearing up in a hallway of Merrick’s building, Copley seems insistent that he’s going to come with her to help, but Nile knows that he’d die if he tried that. She even tells him that he’s already helped by getting her there. She doesn’t allow him to come with her, sparing his life. She still believes in saving human lives as best as she can, but she's not scared to take a life either. It might haunt her a bit in her dreams, but she'll grow out of that.

There at Merrick’s is where she shows the most courage. She steels herself, ready for a fight, rounds a corner and is shot down almost instantly. She gets up and takes out the guards without thought, moving down the hall to take out more and find her crew to save them.

Nile is determined to save her new found family. When she runs to Andy’s side she reminds her that she made a promise to do anything it took to get Joe and Nicky out. She reminded her not to give up. This shows her leader potential for sometime in the future. When faced with Booker, the traitor to the group, he tells her to leave him strapped to the table. She replies “No man left behind” firmly, making it known that he was still part of this group to her. They all go or no one goes.

This is something she believes firmly in. No man left behind. She’s a team leader and a team player, willing to put herself at risk to make sure everyone gets out and safe. This meshes well with Andy’s general sense of ‘We’re all you’ve got’ so you might as well stick around. When Andy is taking on guards herself and killing them in the church, Nile is impatient and wants to go help. She’s sure Andy can’t take care of them all herself. She wants to jump into action.

Her fears are simple. She, like the rest of the Old Guard, doesn’t want to get caught. Getting captured and caged or pinned down and tortured is the worst that could happen to an immortal. To die over and over again in a shitty situation is totally worth fearing. She also doesn't want to lose her humanity. While the rest of the Old Guard are all jaded to death, she's still new to killing and doesn't want to do it haphazardly. She thinks shit through first and hesitates on killing so far. At least she does understand why they do it.

She is a caring individual who’s a badass warrior and fits into the little found family rather easily. Nile has so much to bring to the team, but she also has so much to learn from them. She has earned her place in The Old Guard and is willing to do what she can.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
Trained Marine:
A Corporal, which means she's been in the marines for at least two and a half years. Maybe longer since she's 26. She's trained in hand to hand combat, firearms and martial arts. In the movie she is seen using guns mostly, though marine training generally teaches one to use anything as a weapon. She's smart, a clear thinker and capable in a fight.

Immortality... sort of:
Nile is the newest of The Old Guard, having recently learned that she's immortal, kind of. The Guard can experience death, over and over again. They come back to life after wounds are healed, which can sometimes take a short amount of time (for really fatal wounds) or a little faster (smaller wounds). Though they are mostly immortal, there does come a point in their long lived lives that they stop healing and actually die. There is a chance that she will live a thousand years or die after a decade, they have no idea how or why their healing and immortality stops, or when.

She will feel everything that hurts her or kills her, so she isn't spared from that. Fire to flesh burns, a bullet to the gut hurt, so on and so forth. She can not get sick or catch a disease as her body continues to heal its self. She will not age either.

Healing:
She comes with a healing factor. If wounded or hurt, her wounds will heal over a short amount of time. The worst the wound the longer it takes. This counts both for dying and not. The Old Guard's healing factor is amazing, generally instant and fat moving. They can take shots to the head and body and still regenerate and get up from death.

Warping:
I would like Nile to still be able to be 'killed' in game with out it being a Game Death, but she'll be playing by a new set of rules. Drastic damage to the heart or brain for instant, will leave her dead. Though she can take a stab to the heart or head and heal still, if it's a really bad damaging blow it will take her out. So long as the brain can keep thinking she can heal.

But that's not drastic enough for me. I want to mess with her healing factor as well. Let's drop it to a bit slower than normal, depending on her will to live or not. If she's got a good will to want to heal, she will heal a bit faster, but if her will is low and she feels down it might take longer. On top of that, I'd also like to say that in order to heal she will 'take' from living things around her, so don't stand too close.

This would be more a 'taking life force' from things. So small wounds might wilt grass, where drastic wounds might drain a animal or human. If she dies and regenerates, where ever she lands will absorb life force from flora and fauna and anyone standing near by. It could kill someone if there isn't much else around, but for the most part it's just borrowing health from many things at once. Wounds do not transfer to the other person, but they will feel drained, heavy and tired. Picture it like Rogue from X-Men, draining a person of their energy to take their power. Nile wont be taking powers, but the drain of energy will give her what she needs to regenerate.

In the case that there is no one around, no monsters, no life forms, she will not regenerate or heal.
